So much Happenings ...

As if a three-day weekend wasn’t enough, our friends at local Wylam Brewery are bringing you even more excitement at The Happenings, their food and craft beer pop up event.

Taking place over the May bank holiday weekend, The Happenings will celebrate the opening of Wylam Brewery’s new city centre location, the Palace of Arts. Situated in the heart of Exhibition Park, not far from our original Hippo and just a stones throw from where our Managing Director grew up and went to school, it holds a special place with us here at Fat Hippo.

Built in 1929 for the world’s fair, the decaying Palace of Arts was the only surviving building from the North East Coast Exhibition. After extensive renovation work, stripping back this beautifully simplistic building, preserving its rustic character features, we’re not alone in our excitement of seeing this impressive building restored back to its former glory, but also bring a brewery back to Tyneside.

Along with our bangin’ burgers, you’ll of course be able to enjoy plenty of booze and live music from a range of local bands, including local legends, Lindisfarne! As well as being able to enjoy one of the first glimpses of Wylam’s new Brewery Tap and events space.

If that isn’t enough, the Fat Hippo will be rolling in in style this evening … watch this space!

The Happenings is taking place from 5pm to 11pm on Friday 27th May, Saturday 28th May and Sunday 29th May, and tickets are priced at £5 on the door.
