FAQs

We know sometimes burgers raise some beefy questions! Here are some of your most FAQs to get you started!

We have concessions in Sheffield, Manchester and Edinburgh. These sites are smaller and often within a host venue. When is Fat Hippo open?

Don’t miss out! Head here to find the Fat Hippo opening times for each of our restaurants and concessions.

Do I need to book at Fat Hippo or can I walk in?

At our restaurants (Jesmond, Newcastle, Durham, Nottingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Cardiff and Birmingham), reservations are welcome and you can easily book your table online here. We recommend booking if you would like to join us at a specific time to avoid any disappointment. If not, you’re more than welcome to just walk in and we’ll get you seated ASAP.

At our concessions (Sheffield Kommune, Sheffield Lane7, Manchester Lane7 and Edinburgh Lane7) reservations are ran by the main venue themselves. For Sheffield Kommune, you can make a reservation with Kommune online. For Sheffield Lane7, Manchester Lane7 and Edinburgh Lane7, you can book online with Lane 7. All sites do also take walk in custom so please pop in and see us.

How do I amend/cancel my booking?

Please head to your original booking confirmation email and there will be the option to 'Modify/Cancel' under your booking details.

Any problems, please contact the restaurant directly. Hope you can join us again soon!

Does Fat Hippo do takeaway?

We sure do! Our restaurants offer both Click + Collect and Deliveroo. You can also find our Sheffield Lane7, Manchester Lane7 and Edinburgh Lane7 concessions on Deliveroo.

Does Fat Hippo deliver to my area?

Our delivery parameters are set by Deliveroo (and they are always expanding) so head over to their site and stick in your postcode to find out the specifics! If they don't deliver to you, don't worry - you can always get your hands on our burgers via Click + Collect from our restaurants.

Why isn't Fat Hippo on Deliveroo?

Occasionally during busy times, we don’t show up on Deliveroo for a short period of time. This could be down to us needing to pause our tablet for our kitchens to catch up, to prioritise dine in and Click+Collect orders or Deliveroo may be running short of riders in your area.

To guarantee burgers at busy times, please use our Click + Collect pre-order service from our restaurants.

If that is not possible, our best advice is to sit tight and try again in 10 minutes and we’ll be back as soon as possible.

Where can I order a Fat Hippo for collection?

You can order a Fat Hippo feast to Click + Collect from our restaurants via our app!

All you need to do is download the app (available on iOS and Google Play) and hit ‘Start New Order’ then ‘Click + Collect’.

Select the restaurant and the time (same day only now folks!) you'd like to collect. Sign up/in, bag your favourite burger, treat yourself to that extra side, double check the time and pay. Bag your favourite burger, treat yourself to that extra side, double check the time and pay. Once orders have been placed, they are final and unable to be amended or have the time slot changed. Arrive bang on time with your name/code, and the burger goods will be ready. SIMPLES!

Can I order takeaway on site?

We are accepting walk ups for takeaway at our restaurants.

However, we strongly recommend using our Click + Collect service to pre-book your collection slot and pre-pay for your order.

I have a special dietary requirement, what can I eat at Fat Hippo?

As an inclusive family-friendly restaurant, we will always try our best to cater for all allergies and diets to ensure everyone can enjoy their Fat Hippo visit. This means we have a great selection of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options available on our menu.

Where can I see the nutritional information of your menu?

Following government regulations, the calories of all menu items are now available to view on our restaurant and online menus.

To see the nutritional breakdown of each menu item, please head to our online menu and click the ‘i’ button. This will also give you the calorie information of each ingredient within the item if you want to make any changes to suit you!

A little bit about our products...

Our beef patties are served as double as standard and have the optimum level of fat content to create the ultimate moist and juicy burger. For our flavoursome chicken pieces, we use chicken thighs, again served as double as standard.

Our vegan products are from Miami Burger and are considerably lowers in calories and saturated fats in comparison to other plant based alternatives.

If you have any further questions about our calories or nutritional information, please email our Executive Chef, Dickie on dickie@fathippo.co.uk.

Are Fat Hippo chips gluten free?

Our standard hand cut chips and fries are gluten free as well as our cajun fries and sweet potato fries. However, please note this is not the case for our waffle fries as they do contain gluten. Head to our menu page to see all of the menu items that are GF or GF on request - clicking the little 'i' icon will give you a breakdown of the ingredients and allergens of each item.

If you would like to know more about our cooking processes and ingredients, please pop an email over to our Executive Chef, Dickie on dickie@fathippo.co.uk.

Is your meat halal?

All of the chicken we use across all of our restaurants and concessions is certified halal. However, none of our beef products used at any locations are certified halal. If you require any more information, please email info@fathippo.co.uk.

What does Fat Hippo sauce taste like?

Fat Hippo sauce is our signature namesake sauce and we're well proud of it! We'd say it's a tangy burger mayo and offers just the right amount of kick with your burger and even better loaded onto your fries.
